Up grading my JQ6040 80watt

Post by Philip Crof » Thu Dec 08, 2016 10:47 am

Hi I would like to upgrade my JQ6040 80watt which operates on a program called LaserCutEngrave.

I worked with this program for a while (being my first laser for 6months)

Due to circumstances, a fire in the unit where I was based (not caused by the laser I add) this laser had to go into storage.

To keep the buisness going i moved into our kitchen /diner, and purchased a shenuie 5030 50watt same as the one Russ uses. This of course is RDWorks,

RDWorks is far superior to Laser cut engrave and I have now built up files over a two year period relating to RDWorks. plus I am pretty experienced with this system.

I am moving to a new unit and the big laser is comming out of storage. However I am not looking forward to using Laser Cut Engrave.

First I am not a competent electronics computer software techy guy and being 62 the mind is a bit fuzzy.

I need advice on how to change my JQ over to RDWorks. what do I need , where to get the required components etc

I need if possible some one in the uk who can possibly come down to Somerset and do the deed. (can accommodate if need be.)

Over to you guys

All the best

Phil

If you look at the controller I think you will find it is a Leetro, your laser using RDworks is a Ruida (probably a 6442 or 644(something) if you are using RDw V8. I switched my machine from a Leetro 6585 (which uses Lasercut 6.2) but the older controller which uses Lasercut 5.3 is more common. It is not a terrible job to switch the wires (they all have much the same inputs and outputs) but the terminology is somewhat different. A Ruida in the US is about $400, cheaper if you are daring and order from China. I would consider coming over and doing the dirty work but I require two first class tickets . Hopefully you can find someone closer. I will help in any way I can. If there is a number on your Leetro controller I can research what needs changed. Gene

And Phil, please go to the introduce yourself section and add the necessary info...

Hi Gene
Keith told me that you would be the one in the know regarding this subject :)

Thank you.

I have a couple of electronics guys in mind so is this something that some one who is techy minded (although not in lasers) would find reasonably straight forward.

I will get the number you need .

And Gene :) http://rdworkslab.com/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=913#p5050

Cheers Phil

Good evening Gene

Do you know where I can obtain circuit diagrams for both Rudia and Letrro system?

Hi Philip, On the Ruida website there is a manual for the 6442S controller complete with wiring. I can email it to you if needed.
You are VERY close to being removed from the forum as you have NOT put your location in your Profile as well as you have not entered your signature. The deletions happen! Once deleted, you may not be allowed back in, so you had best do it IMMEDIATELY as I do hate to remove valuable people BUT, when removing people the only criteria is if the required items have been completed ... it has happened already.

Phil, it is not too difficult to switch to the Ruida controller. Gene did it, so he can guide you I'm sure.
