How To - Install Corel Draw Plugin

Installing Corel Draw Plugin

To install RDWorks v8.01.19 plugin to Corel Draw X8.

Before installing RDWorks plugin you must first create this folder
C:\Program Files\Corel\CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X8\Draw
otherwise the plugin installation will fail.

When you install RDWorks, Choose CorelDraw from the drop down menu and click "Install".
It will install RDWorks into a subfolder inside CorelDraw. You will then have a small green button to send to RDWorks on the menu bar.

I think this FAQ need fleshing out, I tried to load the plugin to Coreldraw X6 and failed so far. Someone posted this link for troubleshooting the plugin but it must be for a different version of Cdraw, the folders the plugin was looking for did not exist and I tried adding them but no go. I will leave soon for a month and hope to have time and a good enough internet connection to do some cleanup in the FAQ. If anyone has any version specific tips this would be a good place for them. John, not quite understanding, was RDworks installed in the Corel folder? The plugin is looking for a gms (as I recall- the laser went to it's new home and I will go over and finish setting it up on Friday) file that doesn't exist. Gene

Iirc, RDWorks doesn't work with Corel Draw X6 64bit. It is fine with 32bit X6. I don't know if it's just a problem with the installer, or if there's something more fundamental about it. It's a long time since i tried it.

I run Corel 64bit and rdworks without issue. the link below is a video that gives a step by step process to load RDWORKS with corel - it assumes rdworks was installed in advance of corel and out how to remove ALL the stray bits

Hi Pete- I actually stepped thru that video trying to load the plugin into X6, no joy. What version of Corel do you have? Thanks Gene

Gene, as I said above, X6 64bit and the RDWorks plugin don't play together. I'd try it and tell you what the error is, but it's something to do with the RDWorks installer not finding something about Corel. Don't know where my X6 64bit installation exe is. I would use 64-bit if I could, so that's why I'm on 32bit. I think X6 was the changeover point between 32bit and 64bit, and Ruida in their inscrutabilty only supported 32bit, maybe. X7 is probably 64bit only (doesn't work on my 64bit Vista) and X5 may have been 32bit only.
