3d wire frame modeling

Postby Ray McCrodden » Sun Dec 04, 2016 4:55 pm

What software does 3d wire frame?
I really like and want to learn how to make those 3d acrylic edge lit signs.
I have Corel and Bob-cad right now but still a rookie in Corel.
Novakon Pro cnc mill, Grizzly drill mill, 13x36 manual lathe Everlast Mig and Tig welders.
Box and pan brake, bead roller and way too many ways to cut, bend, sand, shape, and melt metal. About to get a Bodor Laser 1000x600 co2 130 watt Reci (w4) tube.

If it is the ones I am thinking of, they are done with diode lasers. Not sure what software is used to create them. Probably a CAD program outputs to an RDWorks style program that assists in converting the model to something that can be lasered.

This is what I am thinking of. I have only seen them done in glass: https://www.thingsremembered.com/produc ... oCvL7w_wcB

I had wondered if the objective was something of the Bulbing design. I Kickstarted one of those for my wife's desk. It's an impressive piece of work. I would have expected that any vector drawing could be engraved into one side of the material. I've now returned from examining the lamp and the engraving is on one side. The illumination is quite good, as the acrylic edges cast out much light.
