Technical Information Required

Postby Malcolm Ferrie » Thu Dec 15, 2016 6:26 am

Hi, I'm looking for technical information for both the 50w and the 60w Chinese lasers.

Maximum resolution =
Machine lens spot size (inches)
Max speed (inches per second)

2 x 50 x 30 50w Lasers (TL)
1 x 70 x 50 60w Laser (TR)
1 x Mini 0.5w Laser (Anywhere)
1 x 50 x 30 water cooled cnc (BL)
Corel Draw 12 & x7, Artcam, Cut 2D, PhotoGrav
If I can't make it myself, I don't need it.

I take it you want the REAL numbers, not the published numbers.
Also, I am guessing that is with a 2" lens (if that is stock) and straight line speed while cutting not just moving although they may be the same.

It's settings that a software package is asking for, And it's for the stock parts factory fitted, Unfortunately a 2" lens means nothing to me, all I know is that the nose of the laser has to be 20mm from the work piece.

Malcolm, Noses can be different lengths, but my GUESS is you have a 2" lens. Measure from the lens position to the table, with the nose 20 mm from the table. That should give you a rough number of 38 (0.0639 spot), 50 (0.0841 spot) or 63 (0.1060 spot) mm corresponding to 1-1/2", 2" & 2-1/2".

Then, there are charts or calculators somewhere http://www.buildlog.net/cnc_laser/laser_calcs.htm that tell the spot size.

As for speed, my GUESS is 600 mm/s (1416 IPM) might be your MAX, but it is probably advertised as 1000 mm/s (2360 IPM).

Max resolution should be determined by your stepper numbers but the FOCUSED spot size is also a major limiting factor.
So, with a 2" lens, max resolution is ~ 300 DPI, 1-1/2" ~ 400 DPI and 2-1/2" ~ 240 DPI.
