Output Direct

Postby Alexis Tzoulis » Mon Jan 09, 2017 7:25 am

What is the purpose of output direct function in rdworks?
Can i engrave a grayscale 8bit photo with output direct or it is better to convert it to dithered 1bit black and white?
I will get better quality with output direct?

from the manual - Output direct: (Grayscale Bitmap) As referred to the image, higher power will be associated with deep/dark colors, on the other hand, for shallow/light colors will have lower power outputs. This works fine for glass and clear acrylic, however if you want to put an image onto slate for example you might need to check “Negative Engrave”.

I use output direct with a variable pwr and optimized scan to carve 3D images -down load the attached pic make it 3"tall, power 10w-40w, speed 400mm/sec
look at in preview and or engrave it. ( not all greyscales images contain the info to create a 3D engraving - it is a function of how the grayscale is created)

Then try converting to dithered and see how it looks.
