List of GOOD Lasers

Postby Keith Sherwin » Tue Nov 22, 2016 5:22 pm

This is a sticky list of GOOD Lasers. This will be added to over time.

The List:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*** OK lets start with Bodor, I have way too much experience with the 500x600 100w Reci tubed model and know someone with a 1300x900 machine (not sure of the wattage, 130 or 150 I think) and he loves it. Gene (sebastien laforet has additional Bodor purchasing feedback here)

i have a 500*600, 100W also.

a word on the buying process... inquiry/contact by email, i had the same vendor all along. pretty reactive. i have set all options and asked for several quotes. once my choice settled, the machine is set for construction... i my case, i took more than one month (they said they add a lot of commands), and shipped after payment (not via paypal or aliexpress escrow)

for the machine, with 2 RECI 100W tubes (1 nominal + 1 spare), a CW-5000 chiller, a spare set of mirrors and lens. the machine was also delivered with a lot of small tools (allen keys, screwdriver, silicon tape, ..). the price was 3400€ (excluding shipping, tax, custom fees). so, somehow pricey (ends to about 5000€ delivered to door and custom cleared) relatively to redsails clones that you can find for 2000£ on ebay UK, and in france there are some dealers that sell small chinese white and blue for 5000+ € without spare nor brand tubes (i can't say a word about the support they can offer)

overall, this is a nice machine with good finish. pretty good for cutting MDF or acrylic, but not very precise for paper cutting at high speed (>200mm/s, curved line can be a bit sloppy) if you look closely(*)... the 100 W is nice, as you can cut 3mm MDF at 30mm/s, and i did not even try to tune perfectly the mirrors, focal length and all... but the laser won't fire under 15%, also, so don't choose this model for fragile material, prefer a 40 or 60W.

(*) compared to a trotec speedy300, which is available at 50K€, so not really the same category

the real drawback of this machine is the interference problem with the tube cover on the 100W model, but you have the solution on this forum!

I've updated the original post. Gene (and any other mods), feel free to update the first post as you see others make additional recommendations in the future.
