PLT to DXF

Postby Keith Sherwin » Sun Aug 07, 2016 9:29 pm

Found this software that converts plt to DXF format.
http://noliturbare.com/convert/plt-to-dxf
Works pretty good, just needs to get scaled.
On my system it was 2.499431212228937 in the 100% box with the padlock locked.
There is probably an easier way.

Just curious. Why do you need to convert .plt to .dxf. :?:

One of the two methods of exporting from RDWorks is .plt and the other is .ai
I have not been able to convert to any other format. I have not found any program other than RDWorks that can import the ai format. So, I wanted to get some of my exports in to another software manipulation program and could not.
Finding something that would convert to DXF allowed me to use the other software. I find the other software to be a much better drawing program. I am not sure if Corel will import the ai files produced by RDWorks as I do not have it. Seems I got a Chinese pirate copy with my machine, but didn't install or use it.
Hope this is clear as I have not had a lot of sleep the last while.
I had a report that one version of Adobe Illustrator (V17) works and will check on that.

Keith- I just exported a test.ai file from RDw-.19 and it opens with AI CS2- a fairly old version- Flexi would not open it tho. Did the same exporting to a .plt file- Flexi opened that fine- and will save as a .dxf, BTW. Gene

Well, I tried and no such luck. Same message as all the others "Failed to Parse File"

Exactly. That is NOT "Opens OK" I have files that I have exported from RDWorks that I want to modify in a better drawing program.

I don't run into that (altho I can open the export files from RDw)- I have a 'Laser Channel' (and a 'Shopbot Channel') on my LAN where I store the files that I open on the laser (actually the computer on the laser)- so I always have the file that I started out with. I rarely do much modification in RDw, alto sometimes it is good to pass a layout of repeats back to my design program. Gene

No Martín, I do not use Corel Draw. I was supplied a Pirate Chinese Copy of Corel Draw when I purchased the machine, but never got it to install. I called Corel to report it. They didn't care! Go figure.
